My Nature

In the dark where I lie
A shadow at your side
A mirror of life without feeling.

It’s not that I hide
Or really sympathize
With emotions from which you are reeling.

Stone for my heart
Regret plays no part
In the drama of skins we are pealing.

Best toss it away
Before you can stay
And realize just what I am stealing.

  1. I love it Scott this is a very different from your usual style, it is terrifying, brilliant, and just wow

  2. I often find the minimalist approach so impactful, that I use it regularly in my own poetry. There has to be some heart, something at the center that won’t abide having flowery phrases nailed haphazardly around it.
